I knew that to get my self-esteem back on an even keel, I would have to view qualities within and not focus on what was lacking on the outside. The more I read, the more similarities that I found between three of the world’s major religions: Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism, with what I believe to be the fundamentals of recovery.<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/recovery-why-quibble-over-the-words/></div>

Ben Rose reminds us of the beginning of recovery support meetings. That was face-time; today it's screen-time. Both are supportive for our recovery. <div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/face-time-and-screen-time-both-support-our-recovery/></div>

Is Long-term Recovery Your Goal? marilyn l davis fromaddict2advocate.com from addict 2 advocate

Posted on March 3, 2018November 10, 2020

We carry out recovery as a goal, much like any other goal.  Want a new car or house and cannot simply write a check?  Then you know that you will have to save money to carry out the goal. Want a better opportunity for a lucrative job?  Then you know that you need either a college degree or specialized training to help this goal. All of these goals take incremental actions to define and bring about your stated goal.<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/is-long-term-recovery-your-goal/></div>

"It’s a terrible thing when a human being is lost to suicide or addiction.  Thank God we have wonderful human beings in the addiction recovery industry, helping to change and save lives on a daily basis. I felt led to write this article because a colleague had a client commit suicide last week and I know how hard that type of situation can be."<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/suicide-overdose-and-the-helping-professional/></div>
