COVID Isn't Helping: Overdoses Increasing marilyn l davis from addict 2 advocate

While the isolation may help us avoid COVID19, it puts us at a higher risk of relapse, and with a relapse, there's always the chance of an overdose.<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/covid-isnt-helping-overdoses-increasing/></div>

Posted on March 1, 2020March 2, 2020

My realization of the value of life was not an epiphany, striking me with profound insight and wisdom on living and dying; more of a learning experience from seeing how many lives ended quickly from addiction, yet how extended many were by recovery. <div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/are-we-living-our-recovery/></div>

Am I fearless? No. I have merely decided that I'll be brave while still feeling scared. I know that 23 million other people are in recovery and will stand by me and encourage me; that helps me be brave and take the next leap of faith. <div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/lets-be-brave-together-in-our-recovery/></div>

When you learn to separate the various pieces of the puzzle, they become manageable pieces - to change, keep, or modify.  This makes any overwhelming problem puzzle easier to solve.  <div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/recovery-is-like-a-puzzle-learn-to-examine-the-pieces/></div>

recovery is removing the masks

Addiction forces us to wear a false image. We smile, when every fiber of our being is screaming in pain. We posture as friendly, when all we want to do is get our dope and leave. We pretend that we have it all together when we take our children to school or football. We show fake emotions because we are so embarrassed and frightened by our authentic ones. <div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/recovery-is-removing-the-masks/></div>

As a child of, a wife of, a niece of, and probably a granddaughter of an alcoholic, I developed my own case of Alcoholism. My bottle did not contain liquor; it contained Worry and an assortment of other poisonous spirits that lured me into a wild-and-crazy way of dancing through my life.<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/who-is-leading-who-am-i-following/></div>

The concept of altering or modifying something is just another blessing of recovery. It's the freedom of choice, something that was lacking in our addiction. This ability to choose allows us to change our old behaviors, attitudes, and actions and begin the process of inner healing through recovery.<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/recovery-is-altering-from-within/></div>

The hundredth monkey theory gives me me hope! What if I (or you) were the equivalent of “the hundredth monkey” so to speak? I know I am not because, if I were, every woman in the world would be in Twelve-Step recovery, washing their respective “potatoes.”<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" data-url=https://fromaddict2advocate.com/recovery-are-you-the-hundredth-monkey/></div>
